What Is the ILAC MRA?
The International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) provided international cooperation in accreditation for laboratories and other conformity assessment bodies. The ILAC MRA supported mutual recognition of results issued by bodies accredited by participating accreditation bodies.
Activities Covered
The ILAC MRA included accreditation based on standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 for testing and calibration laboratories, ISO 15189 for medical laboratories and ISO/IEC 17020 for inspection bodies.
Why It Matters for Test Reports
Mutual recognition supports international acceptance of accredited results. When reviewing a report, check the organisation’s current accreditation scope and whether the reported test falls within that scope.

- Review the issuing organisation’s accreditation scope.
- Consider technical and regulatory requirements in the intended market.
Transition to Global ACI
On 1 January 2026, the work of ILAC and IAF was brought together under Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI). Recognition continues within the Global ACI MRA framework. Use of the ILAC MRA Mark during the transition is subject to the applicable rules.
